Mehnaz Sultana
Head of Biology
My name is Mehnaz Sultana, and I am currently the Head of Biology at GEMS Wellington School, Qatar. With nearly 13 years of experience as a Science and Biology teacher, I have had the privilege of teaching in various schools across London before relocating to Qatar. I grew up in London and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology from the University of East London, where I also completed my PGCE. Throughout my career, I have taught Science to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, and Biology to Key Stage 5 students, gaining invaluable experience and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students.
As an educator, I am committed to inspiring my students to appreciate the intricacies of science. My teaching philosophy centres around fostering curiosity, promoting critical thinking, and making scientific concepts both engaging and meaningful. I aim to create a dynamic learning environment where students feel empowered to explore, question, and apply biological principles to real-world scenarios. I believe in the importance of nurturing a deep, lasting understanding of biology, one that encourages both academic growth and personal development.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, swimming, and exploring new hobbies that help me unwind and continue growing both professionally and personally.
